General FAQ's
Q. I have an image that I am trying to add to my project but I keep getting the following error message: The image ... is too big for the amount of memory allocated to Digital Studio LP (this program). ... Please let me know how I can edit the program's Info.plist to allocate more memory.
A. Click here to download the information on how to increase the amount of memory allocated for the program (FOR MAC USERS ONLY).
Q. Is there a way to view a cropped version of an image in a slideshow or will it simply show the original unedited version of the image?
A. If you go to Setup on the main menu, then Preferences, then Slideshow, you will see a check box at the bottom of the screen that says: Crop images using the first crop mask. If you check this box, the slideshow will use the first crop mask for all of the images you include.
Q. I have a licensed version Digital Studio LP that allows me to order through one specific lab only. If I want to order through one of your other professional lab partners, how would I go about doing that?
A. To order through any of our other lab partners, you will need to download each of their installers, just like you did with the current one you have installed. After they are downloaded, you simply need to log into the Online Account and Storefront through each version and you should be all set to go. Just a reminder, if you start a project with a certain lab, that project can't be transferred to a different lab for printing. You would need to create it from the beginning if you would want it printed by another lab.
Q. Is there any way to add music to a slideshow in LabPrints?
A. There is not currently a way to add music to slide shows, but it is a feature we plan on incorporating into the software in a future update.
Q. Is there a way to get a demo of the Template and Matted Album Designers software?
A. All downloads for our software can be found on our website. After choosing a lab you will download the software for that lab and install in on your computer. From the day you download it you will have a 30 day trial of both the Matted Album and Flush Album Designers.
Q. Do you have a manual (PDF format) that I can download and read?
A. We are working on a written manual, but unfortunately it has not yet been completed. We understand the need for it and are trying to get it completed in a timely fashion, but as of right now the video tutorials located on our website are the only informational material we have.
Q. How do we, if there's a way, create a new order within a project? For example, I have a wedding project that has placed a reprint order from 10 images. When I get another order, or album order, can we separate these orders? Or, do you start a new order by deleting the previous order?
A. On the Invoicing Screen of Digital Studio LP you will see the ADD ORDER button next to the Current Order drop down. If you click that button it will prompt you to enter in a new order name. After that you will need to make sure the current order drop down has the correct order listed, add the prints you want, and then create the order. The images that are on the invoicing tab when the Lab Order is placed will be the only images that will be ordered. You can continue to place as many orders as you need for a project by simply repeating those steps.
Q. I have downloaded LabPrints and want to use it but need to register the program.
A. To register, go to Tools on the main menu, and select Software Registration. From here, select the option that says: I do not currently have a LabPrints account, then select next, and then Register Online. This will open up a web page where you can begin registering. Once you have completed this step, you will receive an email with a username and password. Next, go to Tools on the main menu and select Online Account & Storefront. This is where you can post your images for sale on our websites, but it will also complete the registration process for you when you log in.
Q. I tried to register Digital Studio LP some time ago, but I never received the conformation email. Now when I try to register I can't because it says the email address is already registered.
A. Usually when this happens it is because the email is filtered out as spam along the way. Simply contact LabPrints by an email or phone, and they should be able give you the correct information.
Q. Is the software compatible with Macintosh?
A. Yes our software is compatible with all versions of Mac OSX. You will see separate downloads for Windows and Mac on our website when you download the software.
Q. Can I use your software on multiple computers?
A. You can use Digital Studio LP on as many computers as you need, you simply need to log into your Online Account and Storefront after installing it on each computer. This will take each one out of demo mode and register any of the components you may have purchased
Q. I downloaded and registered my free version of lab prints over 30 days ago. I did not think I would need the Matted Album builder option, so of course I did not utilize the demo. Is there any way that I can now get another 30 days to give it a try?
A. The only way to demo the Album builder further would be to change the date inside your computer's date and time to a date which fell in the 30 day trial time. After it is changed, simply launch the software and the demo should be available. This is somewhat of a hassle but unfortunately it is the only solution. It should not change anything else in your computer but I would change the date back after each time I finished using the software.
Q. Will this software work with 4x5 format size cameras, such as Olympus and Pentax, or is it strictly for 4x6 formats?
A. As long as the camera outputs a digitized image which can be used in your computer, the format size does not matter. The software doesn't interface with the camera but with the lab you choose to use.
Q. Is the registered version any different than the unregistered version?
A. The registered version of the software will appear exactly the same as the version you are currently using, with the exception that the word demo will not appear across the screen. It will also be able to send orders to the lab.
Q. How often does a new version of the software come out, and do updates cost anything?
A. New versions are released on a yearly basis, with updates released on a monthly basis. New versions will cost money but updates will not, and your software will notify you when updates are availaile.
