Running LabPrints on Vista and Windows 7 Computers

This knowledgebase article will provide you with all of the information needed to install and use LabPrints Digital Studio and LP Production Studio software on a computer running on Windows Vista or Windows 7 (32 and 64bit).

If you are considering purchasing or installing Vista or Windows 7, read the details below otherwise skip to our Installation Instructions below.
  • It is generally a good idea to wait at least a few months to upgrade to a newly released operating system.

  • Make sure that you have a complete backup of your current system.

  • If you are changing from Windows XP, the interface is somewhat different and may take some getting used to.

  • Consider replacing your current internal hard drive so that you can quickly change back to your old one or retrieve older data as needed.

  • Make sure that all of your devices (cameras, scanners, printers, video, audio, etc.) are compatible with Windows 7.

32bit or 64bit?
  • The primary reason for choosing 64bit is that these operating systems can support more than 4GB of RAM.

  • It is worth noting that in general very few programs have 64bit optimized versions available.  As 64bit popularity grows more programs will be available.

  • You may find that some companies are not developing Windows 7 or 64bit drivers for products older than 1-3 years.
